Outsourcing torture

Rule Change Lets C.I.A. Freely Send Suspects Abroad to Jails.

Our governments efforts to outsource torture seem like a nice way to keep the blood on someone elses hands. Wait, isn't this a little transparent?

Bewteen this and the brit's new disregard for civil liberties I feel as though we're really making a remarkably quick retreat from some of our greater societal achievements.

A great Economist
obituary
of Peter Benenson, founder of Amnesty Internation which mentions that
He himself died in the very week that proposals for extra-judicial house arrest for terrorist suspects, a bald violation of civil liberties, were going through Britain's Parliament.
