Vacation Ho

off to Mount Snow for various forms of revelry involving the soviet marching band on parade.

I'll take pictures.

Furstenberg petition

Hmmm, not exactly sure how I feel about this Dartmouth Dean issue. Read more from the Dartmouth online.

And here if you so choose is the Furstenberg Petition
not sure if there's a keep the dean petition floating around someplace else...

I'm a little embarassed for the old alma matter to be honest. Seems like when your dean of yea so many years of experience privately grieves over not being able to accept the best class possible it might, just might, honestly have something to do with his desire to help the school. I find this a good site more likely than blaming it on some deep seated hatred for the sport of football, or athletics in general, probably stemming from not being picked for the kickball team or something like that.

I think I'd be a whole hell of a lot more inclined to send my dollars back to the mother ship if the letter I'd got from the president were a bit more focussed on ensuring me that we've got a consistent admissions policy of accepting the best candidates possible, weighting for diversity (athletic, extra-curricular, creativity and otherwise) and not just focussed on ensuring me that I wouldn't have disappointing homecoming games to go to.

7:10 am??

Please believe me that these post times are very much innacurate. There is no way I'm up and at work this early. None.

blogging etc.

so there is now a counter. although I suppose someone needs to visit before we can really tell whether or not it works. Not really sure why anyone would want to visit at this point, but as I have started to get a quick glimpse of the possible time suck that this habit forming enterprise could become I feel like it's more likely than not that I'll be around to get at least 1 hit before we finish up.

Using sitemeter.com since it was at the top of some list. I wonder whether they'll send my name to all the baddies. I've been pretty bad about giving out my new email address, putting all my faith in the so far superb google spam-filter. Google for benevolent hegemon.

there was no joy in mudville

for mighty newegg had run out.

of the inexplicably priced 1gb sd cards that were to be the coup de grace of my digital camera search.

all is replaced by sadness and inexorable waiting for the 'in stock' reminder message from newegg. I suppose I could get the camera first, but that seems like it would only invite cruelness into the newegg supply chain. Better to just keep drawing pictures I think.

Camera

I've decided to be the last one on the planet to buy a camera. I have had a lovely old Canon Rebel (sadly from the post agassi days) that has sat on a shelf for months/years since the batteries ran out and they're almost $20 bucks a pop. I'm starting to worry that grandchildren will have no photos of me during these impressionable years besides ones from parties with me in spandex tights.

Anyway I think the Canon sd200 is the best one, but as with anything that can be researched endlessly on the internet, thinking you may have got a good deal is very tough these days. There's just nothing like a new product release 2 weeks after you tell your mother that she should buy her powerbook to cut to the heart of the materialistic soul.

First blog.

The first fo what is sure to be very few posts as I'll surely get over these delusions of grandeur quickly. More will come just so that I can see my name in lights for at least a short while however.
